Staying On Course

Note:

These short devotions are based on a verse or a few verses in this week’s Bible Reading Plan (using Eugene Peterson’s Message Bible paraphrase).

Week of April 6-11

Theme: Staying on course

Bible Verse(s): James 5.10-11

Take the old prophets as your mentors.

They put up with anything, went through everything, and never once quit, all the time honoring God.

What a gift life is to those who stay the course!

You’ve heard, of course, of Job’s staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end.

That’s because God cares, cares right down to the last detail.

Discussion

Who are some people you look up to and admire?

What is it about their lives that you admire?

Why do you think the Bible tells us to follow the example of those who refused to quit and stayed on course and honored God?

What kind of blessings do you think come to those who stay on course?

How does it make you feel to know that God cares about every little detail of your life?

Family Project

Pray together. Thank God for caring about every detail of your lives. Ask Him to help you to stay on course and refuse to quit and honor Him in every part of your life.
